This short series was formulated when I was asked to tell the Easter story from the perspective of Pilate during a children’s ministry. As I wrote out his perspective, I realized that I had some respect for Pilate. I also discovered that this exercise was useful for my understanding of the Easter story.
These stories are closely based on the gospel accounts of the events surrounding Jesus’ death, but please realize that they are not Biblical accounts meaning that the attitudes and words come from my own head not the minds of the people themselves. The purpose of these monologues is to make us each ponder our attitude concerning Jesus’ death and resurrection. Do we believe? Do we scoff? Do we betray? Are we heart-broken?
